How much does a roof replacement cost on Long Island?
Most full asphalt roof replacements on a typical Long Island cape or colonial land between $12,000 and $28,000, depending on square footage, pitch, the number of layers being torn off, and how much decking needs replacing. Cedar and standing-seam metal run higher. We give you a firm written number after we've been on the roof — never a phone quote.
Do I need a full replacement, or can it be repaired?
If your roof is under 15 years old and the damage is localized — one valley, one flashing, a few blown-off shingles — a repair usually makes sense. Once you're seeing granule loss across the whole surface, curling at the edges, or you're on a second layer already, replacement is the better dollar. We'll tell you which one you're in, even when the repair is the smaller invoice for us.
Are you licensed and insured in Nassau and Suffolk?
Yes — home improvement licensed in both Nassau and Suffolk County, with general liability and workers' compensation coverage. We hand you copies of both certificates with your estimate, without being asked. If a contractor won't do that, don't let them on your roof.
How long does a roof take, and do I need to leave the house?
Most single-family roofs are a one-day job; larger or steeper homes run two. You don't need to leave, but it is loud, so plan around naps and remote meetings. We ask that you move cars out of the driveway and take fragile items off the walls in the attic and top floor.
Will you work with my insurance company on storm damage?
We do this constantly after nor'easters. We document the damage with dated photos, provide an itemized scope that adjusters accept, and meet the adjuster on site if you'd like us there. We won't, however, tell you to file a claim for wear-and-tear that isn't storm damage.
What does your warranty actually cover?
The manufacturer covers the shingles themselves — typically 30–50 years, depending on the product you pick. The exact term varies by product, so we go through your specific coverage with you before you sign.
